I know sunscreen isn’t an exciting topic, but I believe it’s really important. In fact, recently when someone asked me for my best beauty tip, I didn’t even hesitate before replying: Always, always wear sunscreen!
When I was younger, I thought that sunscreen was only for pool days and beach vacations, and even then I didn’t want to use it because I wanted to get as much sun as possible. What a foolish thought!
Now I know that sunscreen is important for so many reasons, not the least of which is protecting skin from the cancer-causing rays of the sun. By the way, did you know that U.S. rates of melanoma have tripled since the 1970’s?
Now I know that sunscreen is important to keep my skin from wrinkling and becoming leathery.
Now I know that moisturizing my skin is important to keep it from drying out and looking old before its time.
Now I know that using sunscreen shouldn’t be a suggestion but an absolute requirement for all girls from age 12 and up. Moms, it’s super important that you’re teaching your daughters how to care for their skins from a very early age because that’s when our lifetime beauty habits are born.

I’m a big fan of Juice Beauty skin products and I really love their sun protection products. Every day without fail I use the Green Apple SPF Moisturizer and the SPF 8 Lip Moisturizer as part of my morning skincare routine.
On days when I’m going to be spending a lot of time outdoors in the sun, like family get-togethers and beach days, I religiously use Juice Beauty SPF 30 Sport Moisturizer on all of my exposed body parts. I love that it’s water-resistant for up to 80 minutes, and it blends and absorbs quickly.
Juice Beauty products are made from certified organic ingredients with the UVA/UVB broad spectrum protection your skin needs, but without the potentially harmful chemicals you don’t want. The Environmental Working Group, also known as EWG, has consistently given Juice Beauty sun protection products its highest recommendation, and that’s good enough for me.
You probably don’t think about it, but when you use those sunscreens that are filled with toxins and chemicals, not only are they bad for you but they’re also harmful to the environment. I love that Juice Beauty products are “reef-safe”, meaning that when you swim in the ocean covered in one of their sunscreens, you aren’t polluting the waters that the sea creatures live in.
Now that summertime is here, using sunscreen is more important than ever, but don’t forget that it’s a necessity year-round. Even on a cloudy day, your skin is exposed to harmful rays from the sun. So even on those days when you don’t want to bother with makeup, sunscreen is your skin’s first layer of defense against a harsh world.
Do you use sunscreen on a regular basis? I’d love to chat about it in a comment below!
